Lol, not always, but when that's the only thing people post of their studio it's frustrating because you can't see all the gear!

Even more nauseating is people posting HDR photos of their studios which is just harsh to look at and is the photography equivalent of overcompressing. Any engineers who rant about overcompressed music but fall for overcompressed photos might understand a bit why regular people love overcompressed music since it's the same as the engineer loving overcompressed photography.

Wow, that was wordy... sorry!

Regards,
Frank

Never listen to opinions regarding tape, digital, analog, plug-ins, hardware, software, amp modelers, etc. For every 50 nobodies on Gearslutz that say a piece of gear doesn't sound good enough to cut it, I know at least one somebody who is cutting it in NYC with that piece of gear.

You're not missing much; those are 8 Alesis 3632s (as can be seen in the previous picture where gear -is- in focus)

Thanks pal, yeah I do like a Juno (is it that obvious!?) it all started on Christmas day 1982..my big sister got a Juno 60 (I got a Millennium Falcon!) and that was the first time I got to play a synth - not that I was allowed:-)

Hey Frank, she's out of the synth game these days so I kind of inherited her Juno after I'd bought my own. I do recall she was actually after a Jupiter 8 for that Christmas but my folks wouldn't stretch to that. If only.....

What monitor wall mounts are those?

My setup is kind of hacked together and I have my monitors on corner shelves I built which is probably bad.

I just put this together a month or two ago. Yeah I know having monitors in the corner like this isn't ideal and the monitors aren't great anyway and I'm trying to think of ideas on how to make it better or where I could move my setup in my one bedroom apartment. Or maybe I'm making more of a big deal out of how less than ideal the location is than I should... It's a good spot in my apartment in terms of layout but maybe not the best spot for a studio since it's pretty much my kitchen/dining area and is connected to my kitchen and living room which is an odd shape.

Here's my current wacky setup! All hardware, no plugins or anything for me! Latest edition is the Roland Paraphonic that finally arrived today <3

Here's my music that I make with this stuff, if you're interested: RoboTron
Paraphonic stuff coming soon! Have written half a track or so, so far.

Hiya, I got the speaker mounts from Argos (UK catalogue store) back in 2000 but nobody seems to be selling these exact ones at present. I reckon your shelves are fine if you use some speaker isolators such as these Sinn7 Monitor Pad Foam Isolation System - Unit - Lookat.com
and your set-up and space is good - similar to a set-up I had for years.

Yeah! I've definitely been having some great fun with it so far, plugging the gate into the Doepfer Dark Energy, which then runs through the stereo chorus in the Para, and then both through some space echo. Sounds huge! The damn thing just looks awesome as well.

Tiny Terrors are great little amps, and I'm lucky enough to have got my hands on the British hand-made Hard Wired Edition! It's basically the same thing but sounds like a high-end boutique amp, more flexibility in sound and a whole lot more responsive. Love it!

I found this thread because i was looking for inspiration how to set up a little synth corner in my flat. Sometimes I want to play without driving to my music room which is 10km away from my home.

Seems like you guys like to look at pics of gear! Here is my stuff!

My first setup, around 2005 @ home

2nd setup, after moving my gear in a bigger room

the last one looks weird, it's taken from my buddys corner in the room, also a JD800 user.

The Setup when i made the last photos. Many things changed, especially the B****** Mixer and Fx are gone and replaced with a Mackie and Lexicons. I share the room with a friend and use it for sessions all the time.

I also have a tiny terror to play my Hammond C2 at moderate volumes in my flat. I just bypassed the Leslie 122 amplifier which is too loud if you want to play with some crunch.

Yer. That was a bit cruel.

Keep at it deft_bonz. Spend as much time as you can in the studio, 8 or more hours a day. Before long you will be pumping out music that will have jamlive shitting himself.

Maybe you're not a real gearslut, but I look at photos of deft bonz's studio and my first reaction is I feel tingly!

It's called Rivella, a special Fluid to improve the acoustic in the room. We needed dedicated measure equipment to define the perfect postition and fill level of the bottle. It eliminates reverberation, resonances and unwanted stationary waves.
