i am not understanding this can you go into a bit more detail?
i thought their were more then four lugs on the bottom so i am confused as to what you are referring to here.

I think it's the 1 lug on each side of the snare wire which equals 4

Just had to leap onboard .
I have 2 BB's. One late 70s and an early eighties, record, fantastic!
But have to say that if you have the bucks, My Brady snares top them and so does my bridgdeck (Boomtheory), for augmentation of accoustic and electronic. I'm fortunate. I've got all my options covered in that department.

hello, i found this site by accident but beleive me i fit the mold!! lots of purchases in 2006. anyhow i am here to comment on the black hawgs i bought one a couple years ago from georges drum shop. the single chrome flanged, clips, chrome tube lug version. i was told by a drummer in another forum to stick with the "stock snares" so i did. these wires are very respectable, i use an ambassador snare and coated ambassador batter. the tuning range is really nice with these but i now keep the batter fairly snug. that wasn't always the case, but i am in a blues band and i rim shot 90% of the time so i needed that extra "woody" clack the tighter head offers. also instead of wires, string or the strips, use grosgrain for your wires. trust me you will be suprised the difference it makes tone wise. you can get this stuff in any fabric store (jo-ann, walmart, etc.) and its pretty cheap 1 spool will be a lifetime supply. this snare can cover a very wide range of dynamics, from ballads, to realy jumpy shuffles and it does it sooo sweetly. finally a testament to my affection for this thing i also own a 1948 5 1/2 X 14 radio king, mint!! given to me from a guitar player friend whose grandfather owned it. anyhow THAT drum now sits! i have used it once in the last 4 months! i can't bear to leave the "hawg" home!
