FS: Ludwig Vistalite Kit 14/16/18/22 - Clear

Here's a nice kit that sounds really good. Shells are in good shape with no cracks or major issues. They do have smaller scuff's as is typical with the Vistalites, but they look great on stage and sound great. Believe it or not, these record very well. The seam on the 14" is a little rough, but is holding fine when I just changed the heads. I just put new heads all round. They have about an hour of playing on them. I think this is a very fair price for the kit considering it has the very desirable two floor toms.

Ludwig Vistalite Kit - Vintage 70s

Later,

mike --SOLD

Hi, I just put this on ebay.
Didn't think to try here - so here goes.

Axis A Kick Drum Pedal - eBay (item 190190386529 end time Jan-20-08 13:37:57 PST)

Make me an offer - I'd certainly rather sell to someone around here.

FS: 1960's Avedis Zildjian 18 inch Crash/Ride

Weight: 1260 Grams

I will post photos if there is interest. Please PM me.

This cymbal is a bit dryer than your usual 60's A's. But that's why it's so unique. I have about 8 of these things and I need to start paying off equipment So I'm willing to make a bargain here for 100$!!!

I bought it for 180! PM me.

I know this is a for sale post, so I'm not sure if I should place a wanted ad. If not, my apologies...admins delete if need be.

I'm looking for a pair of Zildjian A or A Custom hihats...not too picky on which ones or how old they are...new beats, quick beats, standard hats, mastersound, etc...

Thanks in advance!

Hey, PaulT--I've got a set of 13" A Custom hats that I'm ready to sell. Very little use, as I prefer the Ks or K/Z combo. Give me a shout if you're interested.

Spaun snares, etc. FS

So I've got waaayyy too many snare drums, and I've got to get rid of a few before I can justify any new ones.

A quick explanation: I am an employee of Spaun Drum Co. These are some of my personal drums that I've made over the years, and they are being sold right now by me, not Spaun.

First up is an 8x14" Clear Acrylic Snare, you can see a pic at http://www.headofdestiny.com/spaun-acrylic.jpg.
It just so happens that this is the first Spaun acrylic drum ever made. It's big. It's loud. It rocks. Lots of body with a nice bite to it. SOLD.

Secondly we've got a 7x14" Carbon Fiber Snare. This thing is a beast, check out the picture http://www.headofdestiny.com/spaun-cf.jpg. Diecast hoops on this sucker, earplugs recommended. Seriously, this is the loudest drum I have ever owned. Oddly, it is also has the most sensitive snare response I've ever heard-- you could play some serious brushes on this thing, or just stick one of those Aquarian heads that the metal guys like on it and watch the guitar player cry when his Dual Rectifier won't turn up any louder... SOLD.

Then there's the 6x14" Oak Solid Stave Snare. The shell on this is 5/8" thick, constructed of vertical pieces of wood instead of plies. This has got a flawless high-gloss finish on it, which shows off some really nice wavy wood grain. See it here http://www.headofdestiny.com/spaun-oak.jpg. This drum has a very thick, meaty tone with very few overtones. This thing records like a dream. SOLD.

Lastly, I've got a 12x8" (yeah, 12" deep, 8" head) clear acrylic octabon/concert tom. Use it to get in touch with your inner Neil Peart/Simon Phillips/Mike Portnoy, or just use it to fake a bongo sound with drumsticks... Forgot to shoot a photo of this one, but let me know if you're interested and I'll take care of that. This is a fun toy to have around, it sounds cool, and if I didn't already have another one I'd sure as hell be keeping it. It has an L-Rod bracket mounted directly on the shell (no RIMS mount). $150.

A couple more things: My roommate is a professional photographer, so yeah, the drums look extra slick in the pictures. Rest assured that they are accurate and current. The drums are all in very good shape, clean, and have brand new Evans G1 Coated heads on them (mildly used G1 Clear on the octabon). The drums are available for local pickup/inspection if you're in the Los Angeles area, or shipment to anywhere in the US for $20.

Feel free to send a message if you need any more info!

Gretsch USA Custom 6.5X14 Snare

Bought this blue sparkle Gretsch USA Custom snare drum (6.5X14) back in 2006 with a full kit. The kit never sounded like I thought it should, but the snare was terrific, so I kept it. Unfortunately, I never really used it, as I am more of a Ludwig guy. I would say in the past two or so years since I bought it, the snare has been played a handful of times.

Of course since this is from the USA Custom line it was made in the USA, has 30 degree bearing edges, die cast rims, silver sealer, paper tag, etc... It has the original unplayed heads on the drum, by the way, and I will be shipping it in the original box. Everything (wrap, throw, snares, die cast rims, etc...) is in excellent condition. Here are a couple of pictures, but I have several more for those who are interested.
$325.

I'm planning on putting this on ebay next week, if it doesn't sell here. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Pearl Masters Maple MSX Retrospec Drums in WMP w/ hsc in Exc. Cond. FS/FT

Pearl only put these sets out for a few years I believe, discontinuing them around the time they started to really push the "reference" series. This kit is essentially a Pearl Masters Maple (USA Maple, not your cheap drrum/PDP maple) in vintage white marine pearl finish. They called this series the retrospec line of Masters because all available finishes were vintage style finishes. These were purchased new in June of 05 for my recording studio. I get a lot of kids in to record who bring their maple kit or other kit in and one of the main comments I get is how heavy duty these drums are. You really can tell that no expense was spared in these kits.

This drum set consists of fusion size drums: 18x22 virgin kick, 10x7, 12x8, 14x11 toms with the higher end pearl optimounts on them. The toms have heavy duty die cast hoops and they sound amazing. The kick has wood hoops and it sounds massive. The only mark on these drums is on the batter side hoop on the bass drum where the kick pedal clamps on and that is actually on metal to protect the wood. The drums come with Protechtor cases which are great. The cases are sort of tear drop shaped so that there is a stable bass if you have them on their side, and to make room on for any type of tom or bass drum mount.

The drum heads do need to be changed, but I was not about to change them before sale because the heads may not be what the buyer wants to put on them. Currently they have clear remo ambassadors on the bottoms of the toms which are in great condition, and coated evans G1's on the tops which are in need of a change. The kick has a stock clear single ply PDP head on the batter side, and an evans EQ series coated with precut hole. This head is in good shap, but as I said the batters need changing.

I have been anal with the people using my kit. No playing on the rim of the kick drum, and keep toms an inch above the kick at least so you don't scuff the kick drum.

The set comes with three short style Pearl L-arms for the toms. Cases for all the drums, and the drums themselves.

I am looking to part ways with this kit not because of money or a dislike of the kit, but rather I am getting away from recording Modern style bands and I want a more vintage sounding kit. This kit can get all types of sounds and has a wide tuning, but I'd love to get a kit with a 24 or 26" kick and some larger toms. If you are interested in a trade, I am looking for some older vintage or vintage reissue style drums ala slingerland, ludwig, premier, camco, rogers types of kits. I would prefer 3 ply or 6ply maple, vintage mahogany, or birch kits. I would love a sparkle finish instead of the other vintage finishes. I am open to cash/partial trade options as well. I am looking to get a kit for a kit so no trades for other studio stuff or other instruments. I would also love a kit with a snare.

For pics, please email me. or see FT/FS Pearl Masters MSX Retrospec Drums in WMP w/hsc exc. cond.

Bunch o' Snare drums!

I need to sell some snares to help fund a major studio upgrade (selling things that don't make me $$ to buy something that does...). So, here's what's on offer:

'67 Keystone-badge Acrolite. Super shape for its age. Raw aluminum shell. $200+shipping obo

'50's 6x14 6-lug round badge Gretsch. The throw and butt have been replaced with new Ludwig stuff. Shell is in fantastic shape.
$225+shipping obo

Finally, this nearly-new 5.5x14" solid maple (not steam-bent - SOLID) with cast hoops that I bought from Ronn Dunnett.

Less than 2mo old - I paid $450+shipping and I'm asking for $400+shipping.

I've got a 5x14 DW Brass Collectors Series snare for sale. It's black with black chrome hardware. PM for pics. I've had it for about 3 years. I'm the original owner and it doesn't have a scratch on it.

I'm asking $300 for it.

God Bless,
