Pearl Chad Smith snare tuning?

Probably 25% of all the bands I work with bring this snare in, and I also have one at the studio since they're so cheap..

Anyone have any good suggestions for drumheads and tuning for a standard modern snare sound? The drums never sound bad, but never great.

IMHO thats how it will always be. CS sound good but rarely great. It IS worth the $240.00 or whatever it costs these days though.

for that Drum I like high and tight, when tuned low it just kinda sucks to me, I believe its meant to be that bright, sensitive, rock/funk type snare, and I think it pretty much is.
