Agazarian hats are obviously "terrible," but theres something about them that sound so UNLIKE a real hi hat that i want to buy a pair to have for tracking certain kinds of bands. super lofi, crunchy. think worn 70's funk vinyl...

Its a poor mans floating floor! Isolates the kit from the room.
My rooms pretty soundproof but this really helps, especially with drums but I use it with gtar cabs as well.
I did some tests before and afterwards and it gives me about 6-8db more isolation, which is equivilent to another layer of dry wall, but at a fraction of the cost.

Can you detail how it was constructed for us? I would be interested in building one if it is truly effective. I have wood floors over a 1m crawlspace. When I installed the console, I crawled under there and reinforced the floor with cinderblocks to support it's weight, but I have no desire to spend any kind of real time under there installing damping materials.

Hi there,
The construction is pretty simple:
Its two layers of 20mm MDF screwed and glued togeather.
This then has 100mm (4 inch) rigid fibreglass (703) put on top of it, covered in a large white sheet, and stapled around the edges.
The surround is finished with some timber board to hide the staples then the whole thing was lifted up and flipped over so it sits fibreglass down.
It basically isolates the vibrations of the kit from the floor.

Howdy, here's my kit. It's a Pacific Drums maple kit, and I've got some Meinl Byzance cymbals to play with (especially love the Benny Greb Hats!). It's been a trusty kit for sure. Sizes you see are 12x10 tom, 16x14 tom, 24x18 kick, and a 14x5.5 Chad Smith Sig Snare. Cymbals are 21", 18" and 14".

Pearl Masters Premium MMP

It's finally here... the kit of my dreams. Almost complete, because I'm still waiting for the custom ordered 14" rack tom to go with it.

Configuration:
10x8
12x9
14x11 (on order)
16x14
22x20

This was an upgrade from Gretsch Catalina Maple (customized by me with die-cast hoops). At the same time I moved from stands to a Gibraltar rack. Not going back (neither to Catalina nor to stands ) The kit records beautifully, has a solid, meaty sound with great attack. The mics love it.

Rgds,

Congrats! Beautiful kit! I'm a sucker for natural maple, one of the best looks.

The Masters track really well.

Lovely hardware! Never heard of this drum maker, but looks like top quality. Are those wood hoops on the toms, or single-flange metal hoops?

I'm not a drummer, but it's great. 30 inches of crazy....

There's some sound clips in the video, I did that for a band when we were in the preproduction stage just to see if they liked it.
