Snare lugs on my toms

Someone said my Tom lugs are for snare.. I can't tell. Is there a difference between Tom lugs and snare lugs?

Do you mean lugs or tension rods?

Right then. I'm not sure how anyone could tell. Is it causing problems? On every kit I've had the lugs were the same on all the drums. Someone brighter than myself will need to sort this out.

Good luck.

because a snare drum is often thin, snare lugs are usually a single unit that holds both the upper and lower rods

maybe that's what the person meant

in any case, some toms have that kind of lugs too, so it's kind of silly IMO.
snare

tom with separate lugs

maybe this is what is meant by a tom with "snare lugs"?

how about a photo of yours?

True, but if a tom did indeed have snare lugs, they wouldn't reach, right? And you'd also have an extra hole for the tension rod. Was this gentleman drinking at the time?

Steve

Actually, I guess you could have an 8" deep snare lug on an 8" tom.
