| Lives for gear | Electronic drum set
I would like to get eDrums for use with my samples as SSD 4 or BFD 2 and so on. I'm thinking about some drum sets. I can have Ddrum 4 set for 940 Euro (used of course) or some brand new sets as Yamaha DTExpress IV for 830 Euro or Roland TD 9k2 for 1370 Euro. What would be the best value drum set? I don't care for module sounds too much. As I mentioned I'll be using it with computer most of the time, that's all.

I put together a pretty nice set using used Pintech drums, Alesis Surge cymbals and some Gibraltar hardware. People unload the Pintechs cheap when the transducers start to wear out, but they can easily be restored to new for almost nothing. I also got a 14" piccolo snare and a dual-zone conversion kit. I'm using the Alesis TriggerIO with it, and it works very well. Combined with BFD2, it's highly tunable. Of course it's not on the level of the pro Roland kits, but I doubt there's anything under $1500 that can beat it (cheap pun intended). I wish I had a dual-zone hi-hat, but those tend to get expensive.

Thank you but I think that it could be long time run and for that kind of money I can have brand new kit with cool features. I just can't decide what would be the best.

It did take a while to accumulate all the pieces and get it together. Definitely not a quick solution. I do recommend going with the converted snare, though. Nothing else will feel that good.

I prefer to get one whole el. drum set than collecting pads.

I found another interesting edrum kit: MILLENIUM TRANSFORMER BUNDLE - Thomann Česk Cyberstore I'm just curious how loud are hits on the mesh pads. Are those much louder than rubber pads? |

That Millenium set looks pretty good. Mesh heads are a lot quieter than pads. They make a little metallic ring, but there's no 'thump'. Pads can get a little noisy if you're a hard-hitter.

Great. Thank you. I think I'll go with Millenium. |

In my experience you can always get a better sound going straight through midi into addictive drums etc, unless your going for top of the range Roland or Yamahas (and even that's debatable). So a good cheap e-kit to go into a vst is a way better idea! Wish i knew this before shelling out 2grand on a Roland! | |
