Thread Starter | Dented heads?
Hey all - so I'm (finally) putting some fresh coated ambassadors on the toms from my rec. custom kit I picked up some months back. On the 12" mid-tom, the batter head has got what looks like a dent in it. Not a stick mark, but a subtle dished-out section about the size of a quarter, a little off-center. I may have pushed down too hard on it while seating? Should I see if it'll flatten out or do I need a new head? It doesn't sound so great right now - kind of papery buzzy sound like it's tuned too low. It is tuned fairly low but not to the point where I'd expect this sound. I don't see any wrinkles, just the dent. Thanks! |

Get a new head. Or, if you want to try it, you can remove the dent with heat from a hair dryer. But, it won't sound as good as a new head.

Hey man thanks for the reply - well one way or another it worked itself out sitting overnight. Life goes on!
