I find 6.5 to have a wider range than 5. No reason to NOT buy a 5.. but if you have to have just one, I'd rather have the range. Of my 3 ludalloy drums, my 6.5 SS gets the most use. My 6.5 Ocheltree get the most use overall. "-)
