Thread Starter | New kit for on tour
So it looks like I'll be gone for the better part of this year on tour and really, it is time I got another kit. I have a Starclassic maple kit I have used for years, love dearly, think works great in the studio, but I can't drag it all over the country side. Ideally I am looking for something birch-esque. I am finding in mid-size to smaller venues, the maples over power the FOH too much. I was hoping for more focus and let the PA do the work. Also, I much prefer die cast hoops. I love the fact I can seat the heads, tune them more or less once, mostly leave the drum alone until the next head change... especially when the drums are in god knows what weather for hours at a time. The Tama Silverstars looked perfect except for the hoops. The Starclassic Performers I worry will be too maple like. Recording Customs are too pricey to have fall down the back steps at 1AM. StageCustoms are just kinda flimsy hoop and hardware wise... and have meh bearing edges. So who is making something like this under say $2k for a shell pack? |
