Rock Solid Midi PAD set up to achieve a Drum

Hello guys. I'm looking around for a "rock solid" (drivers, stability etc) PAD set up to get a Drum and percussion.
So not a complete Studio Drum with kick. Just compact PADs.
What product would you suggest me? I was looking at Roland ones.

I would like something smart.
I would like to have the option to link anydrum VST (or almost any) to the set-pad machine. And I like an easy way to map it.

Thanks in advance.

The Kaoss pad? What does it do? As some say, An effects processor (including 128 effects including a nice pack of synthesizers and drum machines.)
A midi controller. It can be uses with virtually ANY program that accepts midi input or puts out midi signals to synthesize any instrument, control any effect or even crazy things like graphic control.
