Sonor used to have a VERY fluffy beater... Looked like a little sheep on a stick. Not sure if they still have it in their catalogue, will have to check online.

BTW, for one recording where I didn't want to have any click from the kick drum, I remember I put my little (then) son's fluffy mitten on a beater head. Worked quite nice (until my wife found out).

in a pinch I've used one of those pop filters the use on SM58's live. They fit pretty tight and sound warm.

the Vater Vintage Bomber is what you seek!

Vintage Bomber

I have a mounted 18" bodhran that I use for a kick in my 'hybrid' kit and the Vintage Bomber beater is integral to the sound.

It's not a real lambswool, but it has that same fluffy quality and doesn't get compressed from use.

The Vater Bomber is awesome. It's also got a nice cork beater under the wool. It's extremely lightweight, so you'll need to get an additional weight to put at the top of the beater rod, but it's a very cool-sounding option.

Take a couple pieces of fabric and put it on the head where the beater hits. That does a good job too.
