Drums>Mic>Mixer>Speakers

Hello Gearslutz ,

I'm new around and decided to post a thread to ask some newbish questions from the pro's , regarding Microphones , Mixer and Speakers.

First , i must mention that i am not a sound engineer , just a drummer and my knowledge around Mixers and Speakers is limited as you will realise from my questions now.

What i wanted is :
1) Mic acoustic drum set
2) Get a mixer that will allow me to handle a)Parties b)Small events c)Typical Live performance.
3)A Powered Speaker set able to handle party situations , small events and drum covers (Music + drums)

I've looked a bit around and found , for
1) Mic Set the SHURE PGDMK6-XLR (SHURE PGDMK6-XLR - Greek International Cyberstore)
and the Shure SM57.

2)Mixer :BEHRINGER XENYX XL1600 (BEHRINGER XENYX XL1600 - Greek International Cyberstore)

3)Speakers : BEHRINGER EUROLIVE B212D (BEHRINGER EUROLIVE B212D - Greek International Cyberstore)

And my questions now are ,
Is this set ideal for my purpose?
I believe the mic set is fine , but regarding the mixer and the speakers now.
1)The mixer's quality is good? Should i look something else at the same price?
2)The speaker's audio quality is fine? The frequency respond is ideal for the drums? Is it possible that a drum cover will damage the speaker or alter the sound to worse?

These are some of the questions that come in mind right now , please if you have something more to tell that would satisfy my needs , you are more than welcome!!

Thanks in advance!!

First of all, who are you playing with? A band, a single musician/vocalist?

Second, how big are the events you're playing. If you were playing for a party in a big house you wouldn't need all those drum mics, in fact I'd be hesitant to put a single mic on the kit. If you're playing a gig in a club or whatever then they should have a decent set of drum mics for you to use.

Answer me those questions and I can give you a decent shopping list

1) I could say a little bit of both. There will be times where we play as band , or just me playing drum covers along with music (Could consider vocals too for karaoke stuff).

2)It could be a typical party in a house , about 40 people , or an open air event with 150+ people.

In that case forget the drum mics. Maybe get a kick mic, snare mic and 2 overheads if you'll be playing bigger outdoors things, you might not even need mics then to be honest. Invest the rest of the money in a few SM58s and mic stands.
