Gretsch jasper kit.

Scored myself a 80's Gretsch jasper shell kit. Had my eye out for the right kit for some time. All virgin shells.
24" kick 16" & 12" toms. Ebony stain lacquer. I have new heads on the way but it still sounds great as is. Amazing how different the sound is from my master custom (in the corner). Very pleased. & yes those are rototoms. This is the setup i'm using for my next recording project.

Killer score.
and good sizes.
love 24x16 early 80's kicks.
I have 15 kits from early 1920-40's Radio King/Leedy to 60/70's Ludwigs to current USA anniversary Gretsch's and I gotta say my early 80's are one of the best overall for recording
take em to Chris Heuer in LA to check the edges..He does all of Vinnie's drums even the new factory kits he plays.
he's the best
he's done 5 sets for me and they sound amazing

Thanks for the info about Heuer. The edges are pristine on this gretsch. I'm guessing they must of been redone at some point. I'll have to ask him about doing some work on my customs tho. Great contact to have.

Just did a quick test recording/noodling around. I was experimenting with new overhead placement (didn't workout to well actually) & a FET toft DC-2 I just picked up placed on a parallel drum bus. The toft comp I love. Looking forward to actually tracking/mixing this kit, But you can get an idea of the sound from this test. Testing different mic placement for an open non-dampened sound.
