Should I use spray can or paint brush?

MY FIRST KIT RESTORE PROJECT - And first paint job for kit drums.
I need some help here:

I'm refinishing a couple of 20 inch Gretsch bass drum hoops.
I'm going with the Black Gloss Niro Cellulose lacquer that was on there originally.........or at least that's what Gretsch uses today. It looks nice against the Gold Sparkle inlay.

I can order it in a spray can OR in a can of paint and apply it with a paint brush etc.

Will I get a good job using the spray can if I'm careful or should I go with the paint brush method??

Spray can

GOT MY ANSWER:

I got a reply from a Gretsch historian and a well known drum builder/designer and both said Spray Can is the way to go for this job.

Here it is after painting - it worked fine....the ole "rattle-can"

you can also buy or rent a pro paint gun.

This will give you more options on the types of paint and finishes you can use.
