Free triggers download, Truth snare & more

Hey guys, here I post some triggers that may come useful having at hand

You find them here:

www.katoo.it/2009_Triggers_by_Katoo.rar

These samples were recorded from a Truth snare (Paramore, Underoath endorser) and a Delodrums snare (italian handcrafted drumkits).

I'm thankful to Jacopo, great drummer, friend and owner of this fine Truth snare for patiently recording every hit and to Luca, superb musician and great friend, owner of this custom Deldrums kit.

Here's how the samples were recorded.

Truth snare and Delodrums snare were micked with a AKG 414 on the top and a Rhode NT-1A on the bottom, and a couple of KEL HM-1 as room mikes.

All samples have been recorded using 2-ch 5012 Portico Preamp, and 2-ch FMR RNP Preamp (room mikes).

All samples have been saved as gog files.

DRY samples are close micked/mono gog files.

WET samples are close micked hits and room mikes blended together, and they are stereo gog files.

ROOM samples are room mikes/stereo gog files.

Most of the samples are recorded with 4 different dynamic groups, 2 different samples per group.

The Truth snare has been recorded with two different tunings, a high-pitched one and a low-pitched, fat bottom one.

There is an addictional folder named "Monster", it's a blend of the low-tuned Truth snare and the Delodrums snare.

All the recording, engineering and digital processing has been performed @ 8 Pound Studio, Rome, Italy, by Katoo.

I hope you enjoy

I am unable to successfully unarchive this file using UnRarX for Mac. I get errors that say:

DELODRUMS/SNARE/DELO_ROOM.gog - CRC failed
Unexpected end of archive
Total errors: 2

perhaps the archiving is flawed?

PS- Stuffit Expander also fails during unarchive. I think the file is flawed.

Not on a mac?

After thinking about this- the file might be OK on a PC, but none of the mac rar file handlers that I tried will extract the gog files properly. I guess these are PC only gog files. I've been using drumagog for so long on a mac, I forgot they have a PC version as well.

Uhm, that's why

But if you like, I can upload a wav version of the triggers. At least that's something!

Ok guys, due to the various issues users have been through unpacking these files, I'm gonna repack it AND upload the samples as WAV files. Just have a little patience since right now I'm gigin' around, so as soon as I'm home I'll do it all. In the meantime, thank you all for your interest in it!

Ok folks, I succeeded in repacking the old gog PC files, you can find'em here:

http://www.katoo.it/TRUTH-DELODRUMS_...S_by_Katoo.zip

About the wave format samples, I'll be uploading them as soon as I get to re-open the project in my studio.

Aaaaand, I just recorded NEW triggers from a SONOR snare and a DW Satinoil bass drum I recently rent for recording my own band album, and the quality of the microphones and of the acoustic environment is even better (COLES ribbon microphones, AKG 414s, NEVE preamps and a really big pinewood room). I'm working on the processing right these days, so I hope next week I can upload them too.

Thank you for the appreciation, I mean it!

Katoo.

I've been seeing a lot of shtuff about Truth snare drums lately.
Any reason why?
A buddy of mine was endorsed by Truth so I was able to play on
on one of their kits a while back ago. Full Truth kit, snare and all.
I kind of thought it sounded "wonky", especially the floor tom.

Standard Remo head set-up, 'cept for the reso. head on the snare.
That was an Aquarian classic clear, I believe. The super-thin heads
that they make, that is.

Let me know what's up with them, I'm very curious!

Thanks

Actually I had the chance to hear the snare, and nothing elese from Truth. I think they're a bit overrated. Snare sounds powerful, really powerful, but no noticeable pleasant resonances there. In fact, usually I'm using the "Monster" hit I did, on recorded snare tracks: it's a blend of the powerful Truth stroke together with the more rich and colored sound from my band's drummer snare (handmade). For me perfect kit is actually DW satinoil. Period.

I'll have to download those sounds to check it out then my friend!
And those DW kits are rather delicious.

Perfect blend of exotic spices!

Well, I use to have one main directory and put everything into it, and it always worked out fine. I'll double check my directory tree on my studio computer later on, maybe I'm missing something too!

Sorry for not posting anything since a lot. I'll post ALL the WAV sample files I got (Truth, but also a Sonor snare and a DW Kick) as soon as I have some time to bounce them out of my computer!
