Thread Starter | Continuous "jungle" toms?
Hi Wondering what people are doing when they have those kind of continuous, "jungle" toms .. usually in the verse. Sure you know the thing, it's getting more and more common. I'm not talking about fills but continuous floor (mainly) or rack/floor patterns. Trouble is, I'm getting a substantial build up of lows/low-mids, which is making a mess of everything from the bass to the kick and all points in-between. Intuitively, I'm inclined to more or less a) use more of the room/ambient/OH mics to keep the sound more open and lose some of the proximity build up and low end and b) use EQ pretty radically to minimise everything except the skin/stick. Any suggestions/comments appreciated. Thanks. B |

Overdub a pass in the verse with the toms partially muted or heavily gated. You can also hi pass the toms below the resonant note to cut out rumble.
