Thread Starter | Just Bought A Pearl Demon Pedal
It's sitting in my car now until I get off work and can get home to play with it. Not sure what I think, even though I was very anxious to get one. I had been all set to go from my current Pearl Eliminator pedals to a DW9000. But, when I saw these Demon's a few months back online, I decided to wait on them. I'll have to check it out with my Iron Cobra beater and adjust a bit, but I hope it works as it looks great. Anyone else got one and playing with it yet? Thoughts? m

| I dunno.. the Sam Ash over on Cobb has the Demon, Axis and Trick.. all nice machined aluminum direct-drive pedals. Same idea, but they sure all feel different. I think I like the Trick the best, but I just can't spend that much $$ on a pedal - the Demon sure looked like a nice piece of gear.

Yeah, not a copy of the axis at all. Same thing as they're both direct link as opposed to chain or strap driven, but totally different feel. The pearl has much more customization. I'm trying to play with everything, but after about an hour, I do like it. My foot's totally worn out now as I'm trying to play a bunch of crazy stuff that I wouldn't do normally, so I can't really judge the pedal any more tonight. I'm so out of "game day" condition. Anyway...a nice pedal. I think a big step up from the older Pearl Eliminator, Tama Iron Cobra, DW 5000 and similar. It is in the same ball park as the trick, axis and dw 9000...they're just all different. Same as anything...one will work better for everyone, or you'll just get used to the one you have. later, m |

Someone asked a question, then deleted it, but here goes the answer anyway, since I've been meaning to post a follow up. A new pedal isn't going to make you a new drummer. You aren't going to start hitting triplets if you couldn't already....but, it sure can make what you do play a tad easier and smoother. This pedal seems to do that for me. I had been playing a Pearl Eliminator since they first came out and was pretty happy with them. I was using the blue cam and had no issues. But, I'd recently gotten the bug to try out a dw9000 pedal. I really felt like the DW pedal was an upgrade over the Pearl and was ready to buy one at the first of this year. That was until I saw the ads for the Demon. So, I waited until I could buy/try one. After spending a week or so on this one, it's really what I hoped for. It's got a much smoother feel than the Eliminator. The adjustments are incredible as you can totally dial it in to whatever you're looking for in a pedal. I know a few folks have compared it to the other direct link pedals on the mkt., so here goes my comparison to them.....well, at least the axis as I haven't tried the trick. The axis seems just too light. It just doesn't feel like there's anything underfoot with that one. With the pearl, I can get it to nearly be that light with adjustments, but can go the other way and give it a bit of a heavier feel. I am still playing with everything as the combinations are limitless, but I'm very happy with it so far. m |
