Whats up guys, So, i have been studying music production for 3 years now, and still have LOTS to learn.. which in my opinion will be learnt when out of the Uni course and able to experiment and evolve by myself in my own setup etc My Dissertation is on my own band.. and im producing an EP. We have alot of ambience in our sound, and delayed / reverby guitar licks etc.. and alongside this we really are looking for quite a big drum sound.. if that makes sense? (im not very good and typing what i am wanting to say!) I know of a few techniques like for example coldplay, and how they have an ambient mic and a mic outside of the live room in the corridor, to add to the dynamics and overall room sound.. But im interested to see if there are any other interesting techniques to get this sound on the drums.. whether mic placement or whatever you can think of. If it helps.. i guess a similar production sound would be this band: Circa Survive on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos This is an example of an overall sound were kind of going for.. although musically were not exactly the same. Any help would be amazing.. im asking because i read this forum a lot and take in a lot of the discussion, as im sure the majority of you have more experience then me! Im learning all the time! ![]() Cheers guys (If this is in the wrong thread please let me know and i will remove it!!) |

Seems like it's just a big room with some diffusion and a mono room mic that's compressed heavily. Sounds like they used a lot of overheads for most of the drum sounds too.
