Thread Starter | Drum guys, what is this snare worth?
I believe it to be a 70's b/o badge 6.5" bronze or brass supraphonic, but not sure which. I have a chance to get it for $150. Have not yet seen it in person as it is a little drive for me. Anyone know what they are worth? Thanks! http://www.gearslutz.com/board/attac...1&d=1239225332

$150 is a STEAL for any Ludwig 6.5" metal shell drum. Looks like a 70's Bronze to me. I probably prefer the hammered version, but no mistake this is a quality drum. I haven't followed Ludwig prices for a couple of years, but my uneducated guess is that this is worth minimum $250, probably more likely $300-$350. More importantly I think it's going to be a great sounding drum...... a keeper.

Thanks Chris, I had a feeling it may be a pretty good deal, but nice to confirm this. I read somewhere the way to tell if it's bronze is there is a "BZ" stamped on the shell interior and a brass would be stamped with a "BR". Either way, like you said. I just acquired a b/o acrolyte for $100 and am really liking that too. Thanks again, Dave

Either way, a brass Supra or a bronze Ludwig are both very nice drums, especially for $150. Caveat: Unless the drum has a problem of some kind.

That's a bronze. And $150 is a terrible deal - give me that guy's number and I'll tell him so myself.. seriously, what's his number? GIVE ME HIS NUMBER! (run.. don't walk.. and get that drum) "-) |

Are those die-cast hoops? They don't look like standard triple-flange. If so, you're getting an even better deal (as long as you like die-cast). I use a die-cast hoop on the batter side of my 5" supra, and love the punch.
