Live use - Electonic Drums

I am in a lice scenario and have always heard V-Drums with the mesh heads to be the tops in the E-Drum field.

If I am spending $2500, what kit would you recommend for playability AND decent on board sounds?
Thanks
Rob

The TD9 does NOT suck at all for playability and sound.

I figured as much

Any others that may cost a bit less and still not be a chore to play on?

I've been looking at that set and the next step down (TD-9S) with the rubber toms. VERY nice kits indeed.

Roland's on board sounds are awful. I would look at Yamaha. They use silicone heads instead of mesh, which feel much better.

The upper end of the DTX range from Yamaha kills the Roland stuff in my experience. I ended up endorsing them as a result of the incredible playability, robustness and on-board sampling. Just my experience tho. I toured a DTX-950 extensively last year. No issues whatsoever!! I was amazed!
