Ludwig Vistalite Badges..HELP

Does anyone know why Ludwig did not stamp serial no's on some of their blue/olive badges? I was looking at a Amber Ludwig Vistalite kit that had some B/O badges with serial no's while others did not. I know the owner had added to the kit so this could be a possible reason. Some of the badges are pointy (early to mid 70's) and some rounded (latter 70's) The ones with no serial #'s are pointy corners. I was interested in buying the kit from the original owner and am trying to decide what to offer him! thumbsup
