Thread Starter | !! Drum modules help please !!
Hi All - my first post so thanks in advance......great forums !! Not sure if im posting in the right place?......but here goes: I am looking to buy a drum module which I will use with triggers attached to 3 drum pads. I plan to have just 3 pads and 1 drum stick !! I would really like a module that allows me to hit a pad that will trigger a hi-hat sequence (by this I mean a hi-hat beat that goes on and on until I hit the pad again to stop the beat!!) at a tempo that I can set on the module. The other two pads will be kick and snare. The idea is to be able to play grooves with just one hand ! The questions is: will pretty much any drum module that I buy have this functionality? Or would I need to look for a specific model? If anyone can recommend a good but not too expensive module I would also be much obliged ! (based in London, UK) Thanks again all ! |

look at a sequencer/ sampler that can "latch" onto a trigger (loop until stopped) you could also look at the trigger end of things and find a drumKAT (or something that can do the same) Electronic Drums, MIDI Mallet Percussion from Alternate Mode - KAT |

.......thanks ! I allready have the pads/triggers- so a drumKAT (etc) is not really an option. Just need to know about the general capabilities of drum modules I guess ! |

The Roland SPD-S does this very well. Roland U.S. - SPD-S: Sampling Pad FYI: Johnny Rabb cracks me up.

The SPD-S only has L+R jack in though........and I have 3 triggers ready to use and may build some more too.....Most drum modules have at least 8 jack inputs. Thanks for the shout tho |

You hit the SPDs that's what it's for! Peace, cortisol |

yeah but I don't want to hit the SPD-S- I want to hit my pads which I will position on the floor ! It's kind of a weird project im doing.......! Im thinking that a Roland TD 6V is a good starting point as it has backing instruments too (which is allways a good feature to have for the future). I would like some pointers about sequencers tho........hitting a pad triggers a sequence which sounds through the voice bank on the TD 6V? Thanks again x |

The Alesis triggerr interface might be a cheaper choice when you use the sounds from the seqencer VSTi stuff. Or some Alesis DM4/5 whatever from ebay.
