Overhead Mics for Recording??

Hi All,

Im a newbie here..

Im looking for some solid recommendation for Overhead Drums Mics.
I was using Crown CM700 but lost in a house move(divorce)

Now Im looking new options... I've been reading alot of reviews...
Im on a budget so i must choose carefully.

I'm looking for high quality sound at a reasonable price.

So far,
Shure SM81 for Hi Hats seems like a good choice..
Need Ideas
2 overheads - Any Ideas?
1 ride cymbal mic - Any Ideas??

Your thoughts appreciated...

Also -- the drum room is small and tight. 6ft by 4ft with 7ft cellings. Overhead mics will only be about 1 to 2 feet above kit..

thanks

BC

6x4 is a closet.. I'm not sure I'd even attempt to record drums in there. How do you even fit a kit in?

That being said, for overheads.. reasonably priced.

Try CAD M179 or Kel HM1s (roughly the same price range - about $150ish each).. for a little more, maybe ATM450s. Or if you want cheaper - PG81s will do the trick.

LOL.. I know it;s small.. I have a small drum room setup for recording.
I use protools and normally get a nice sound after some plugins...

I've read about the ATM450's I night go that way..
Are they better than the Crown CM700??

thanks for the reply...
