Question HELP! overhead preamp on 451 or JOsephson C42

Greetings SLutz!

I need your help in deciding what preamp to use for drum OH using 451 and C42 for rock/pop.

I have one of each ... and am looking to buy one to for pair: I'm on the waiting list for an Aurora GTQ2 (thanks Tony!) but won't be ready until early Feb.

Shadow Hills GAMA
Juggernaut
512c
MA5

what to do?

Gama, Juggernaut or API will all work great on overheads. They all have the ability to retain transient punch (while the 'Neev' sound softens those transients, I've never been a Neve fan on overheads, kick and toms yes). Juggernaut and Gama will be most versatile because of the switchable tonal options with transformers. The impedance on the Juggernaut will take the tonal options an even additional step beyond that.

The ongoing sale has gone a bit better than expected. I've got one loaner left available that I can let you borrow with a purchase (and then swap for the new one when they come in), but other than that, they are out of stock for another 3 weeks until approx Jan 20. But the special price will still be honored of course for anyone who reserves one. This is the first time we've been out of stock since they started shipping back in May.
