Thread Starter | e drum / acoustic triggering questions
i'll start by saying that i have been researching all the threads on how to make these thing , and it's helping alot. but one thing i dont get , i made up some of these ....see pic..... how do you attach then to lets say the kick drum? do you just duck tape it on ? and where is the best placement for it.i need to put it on someone elses drum so its not like i can be putting duck tape all over some dudes stuff....how else can i attach it?

one thing that works pretty well for me is fun-tack it's this blue putty that they use for sticking photos and stuff on a wall or board. It's sticky enough to stay in place but not so sticky you can't take it off or move it around. It doesn't dry up, either. you can get it at an office supply place I put my triggers on a glob of putty on the bearing edge of the drum with the 'sensitive' side of the trigger facing up toward the batter head. I position it just below the 'crest' of the bearing edge so it will be a 1/4" from the head but not touching the head. The wire can run out the air hole. On my own drums I installed a jack. Re the "not touching" part: I need to crank up the sensitivity on the trigger interface, but there seems to be less cross-talk and false triggering than when the trigger is stuck right onto the head. But for a temporary solution you could try that too - glob it directly on the head.
