Help with buying used Yamaha Maple Custom Definitives? For $1000?

I am looking at buying a set of used "Yamaha Maple Custom Definitive" drums here in Canada. Apparently they are made with Canadian maple in Japan. Can anyone tell me more about these drums? I'm having a hard time finding info on them and have no idea whether $1000CAD ($825USD) for them is a good price or not. Anyone know how much these might have retailed for when new? Thanks.

Use google and you find a ton of info. Bottom line, same drums, but wrap finishes, made in japan only sold in Europe and Asia.

Thanks. I had a hard time getting a decent amount of info by googling them, but I found some more info by digging a bit more. Apparently the maple is chinese not canadian, and that the maple leaf on the badge has nothing to do with maple leaf on Canada's flag and everything to do with the maple leaf from the maple tree.

Chinese maple? Hmm. I wonder if that is more similar to the maple they put in pro-sumer kits from manufacturers like PDP and ddrum. I found some kits for sale. I did not like the wraps at all. They were very different to the pearl and oyster and flame wraps we commonly see.

I found a set of these on kijiji going for $1800 brand new, and that was already down from the list, so I am guessing that $1000 used was a decent price. Thanks.
