Yamaha 20" Stage Custom Kick - Perfect Beater Head for Punk/Rock/Metal..?

I don't know my kick heads very well, and my own Yamaha 20" Stage Custom Kick has it's original (and now dead) skin on it from years ago. Nigh on all the bands i have come through here want that same sound - Deep, Clicky, almost plasticy sound if you know what i mean. I know it's often done with sample reinforcement, hell so do i, but i do want a good tone in the first place! I've gotten some awesome sounds out of my kick, but it needs a (decent) new head as it's sounding quite clearly dead - Any suggestions?

Also, is changing the original front head (has a single reinforced mic hole) going to make a massive difference or not?

If it helps, i'm a Remo Pintripe kinda guy for my toms, and like the results.

Try an Evans EMAD with the narrow dampener and a plastic beater, tune it as low as possible, that should do.
And as for the front head, I think you can keep the one in the avatar.

Nice one Pawel, thank you! That ties in with some advice i was given tonight as well, so that's encouraging!
Would you recommend the single or twin ply Emad??

I'd go for the single-ply one, leads to a bit brighter and more focused sound.

The EMAD is a great choice, I use it all the time.

The Remo Powerstroke 3 clear is another great batter head; it's a bit cleaner and punchier than the EMAD but it doesn't have as much low end. You can't beat the EMAD for sheer low-end BOOM.
