I'm looking at replacing the snare that came with my Tama Rockstar kit...will this snare deliver a higher level for Slipnot style music? It's been discounted down from $299 to $230 at a few places; who has some experience playing on this piece? Thanks, Ray |

It's a good sounding snare. I'm not a drummer but I've got a few snares on hand for different recording situations and I've been pretty happy with it. Mine's got a kevlar head on it which gives it a pretty awesome pop. It's got decent balls for a 13" snare too.

They get them regularly in my local drumshop (a Pearl dealer) - and they don't stay long... everyone looks at it and goes 'yuck - it's got that slipknot logo all over it'.. then they give it a tap.. then they whack it. It's a really snappy snare. Great cutting 'pop' sound.. I plan to add one to my arsenal one of these days. |

I messed around with one in a drum shop a while back and was very impressed...much more versatile snare than you'd think...I'm sure it'd be ideal for Slipknot-style music but I could see it being used for various pop and funk styles as well...

I have this question up on a few boards and the only negative response is cosmetic preferences- everybody gives it a thumbs up on sound/tone with a surprising amount of flexibility. My G.A.S. is heating up....

I played a show last night and one of the other band's drummers had this snare. It sounded pretty nice but he had it tuned a bit too high for liking. That's just preference though. We're all metal bands and it cut through great during their set so it definitely has the chops to cut through a wall of guitars turned up to 11 :D
