I just find the 6.5" version more versatile. It's very easy to tune it up and get the high pitched ringy sound. That drum is also classically used tuned low for a fat 70's or ballad sound. You sort of can do that with a 5" drum, but I honestly think the 6.5" covers more bases with ease.
