dw acousticeq snare drum

Found this on ebay. A pair of handles open or close vents mounted in the shell to produce varying amounts of acoustic damping.

I'll give them credit for an innovative design, but in every video, the drum sounds either choked or empty. I don't hear the good ol' sound of wood resonating and barking.

They even have Keltner hyping it up.

I'll take a Craviotto over this anyday.

Spend $50 on a used Acrolite.. not wood, but they sure sound good.

From memory, "variable venting" has been done before DW's attempt.

What a horrible sounding drum that eq snare is, very flat and trebly. It sounds like the internal mic is way too loud in the mix.

Yep. My buddy got a "variable venting" snare from Odery drums years ago.
