Circa Survive Steve Clifford

Im a huge fan of Circa Survive and i was just wondering if anyone on this board had any info on the recordings of Juturna? I'm especially interested in their drums. Every time i listen to this cd, i have to stop and say "damn, those drums sound sweet"

Any of you familiar with the cd, know exactly what I'm talking about. Even if you don't have any facts, take a listen to "Carry Us Away" and give me your opinions on it. What stands out to me the most aside from the snare, are the toms in the intro. They're deep and defined, they cut through soooo nicely.

I understand awsome drummer is probably half the battle. But that cant be all it. How do you think those drums are tuned? Sounds pretty tight on top?

Ill post a clip of the first 15-30 seconds so you guys can get an idea of what im talking about. Or just buy the song on itunes, you wont regret it.

Thanx in advance
Robert

i love circa! i think for the drums mcternan used the transient designer on a lot of stuff. hence the really fast attack on the snare on the new record.

thats just what i heard! very good stuff!!

I talk to brian mcternan sometimes. You said you love the drum sound on Juturna and Carry Us Away is off of On Letting Go...so I don't really know what you're talking about. I really like the drum sound on on letting go. The kick has a tonnn of punch/low end. If you message him on myspace he might answer back.
