YESS mounts on older kit

I have a Recording Custom kit that the previous owner put Rims mounts on. Would it be best to just stick with those or get the YESS mounts? If so, how would I go about doing that? A preliminary search round the net including Yamaha's site didn't show any Yess mounts for sale seperately from kits that alteady include them. Thanks for any advice.

Yeour drum dealer will be able to order Y.E.S.S. mounts, but the RIMs are way better!

Are they? Maybe I'll stick with them then. Anyone know an easy way to get replacement the rubber grommets for the old RIMs mounts? Do they have them at your typical Sam Ash or even Home Depot maybe? Mine are kind of starting to fall apart.

HI NUTMEG : )

Yeah, there's no need to add YESS mounts to a kit that doesn't have them. I don't really like them on my Maple Custom kit and have thought about getting Rims instead.

The YESS mounts tend to be particular about how far the stems go through the hole, greatly affecting (or even killing!) the resonance of the tom. I actually really don't like them. If I take a tom off the stand and hit it while holding it by the rim, it sounds like it should sound, but not when it's mounted.

Thanks for the replys. It looks like I'll be sticking with the RIMs. Does anyone know where I can get replacement rubber grommets. Mine are pretty dried out and worn and I can't seem to find anything on the web for PureCussion, the company that makes the mounts.
Thanks again.
