Alesis Control Pad, anyone?

Hi guys and gals!
Is the Alesis Control Pad any good at all? I'm not a drummer, "just" a percussionist and I'm looking for something other than the keyboard to hack in some beats with.

Alesis has a good rep when it comes to drum machines but what about pads?
For the price it seems like a pretty good deal and it has USB which means it's probably easy to set up.

Please don't hurt me for heresy
