I have triggers mounted in my drums but only use them for live performance where I want to trigger samples on stage.

In the studio the track that you record with a microphone can be used as a trigger after the fact. There are plenty of software options that allow you to replace drum sounds after they have been recorded.

You just need to place a mic on each drum in the kit.

These days the only reason to use triggers in the studio would be if you decided you needed to hear the sampled sounds while you played. In such a case, a set of electronic drum pads would probably be a better choice than a triggered drum set.
