Hi All, I am planing on buying this kit to practice at home. Is it usable or is it just a toy? I am not planing to take it on tour or anything. I am just happy playing acoustic drums on stage. I want to get rid of my rehearsal space and save myself a little money and flexibility. thanks |

you know, i got a chance to bang on this particular model the other day at a piano store (why they had one i don't know). aside from the toms sounding like electronic drums, the rest of the kit was really nice. the kick, snare, hi-hat and cymbals were fine, and the feel was excellent, especially the kick and snare. it made me think that i would want to upgrade the toms though.

I have a TD3 KW in my studio and use it to trigger things in my computer like EZdrummer or RMX. The internal sounds are ok for practising but nothing to write home about. The sensivity and dynamics of the pads are cool though. If you want a better feel upgrade the toms to the pinstripe version as the regular rubberpads might feel a bit artifical with the way they bounce. For your purpose i would say its a perfect choice. |

The danger with getting one is that you'll love it so much you'll want to buy the td-12 and sell the td-3 at a loss. I went through this very problem.

I agree with everything posted so far (except I prefer DFHS) and I'm also thinking of upgrading to something with all-mesh pads. I think there is a TD6 variant with all-mesh pads ? |

I understand they are coming out with a TD9 set that is an upgrade. However realize that mesh pads are mostly important for the snare...it's nice to have them for the toms certainly but you only hit those so often. You can mix-and-match, all the roland stuff is self-compatible for the most part. |

| Roland U.S. - TD-6SXT: V-Tour Series td6 with pads Roland U.S. - TD-9SX: V-Tour Series td9 PS - to the original poster..... NEVER PLAY THESE DRUMS ON STAGE OR IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE - YOUR WIFE WILL LEAVE YOU (TAKING THE DOG WITH HER), YOUR FRIENDS WILL DISOWN YOU AND YOU WILL NEVER BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY AGAIN. |
