Honkey Tonk Woman - Stones (thick, humid Memphis night air affecting the sound?) - more cowbell

We Wont Get Fooled Again - The Who - the best ever 'telegraphed' drum entry? - An Olympic gold javelin throw... thrilling to follow, very long, totally victorious on landing..

The drumming on that is so awesome. i can't listen to it right now but i don't recall hearing any hi hat. Just snare bass, 1, maybe two crashes, and some perfect fills on the the toms.

I recently watched the Imagine documentery and was under the impression that Alan White played on that track.

Drum Intros

Great ideas and nominations...some "stealth" cuts that come to mind. Nothing crazy...just builds a tremendous sense of anticipation for the main riff.

-Eruption (Alex Van Halen)...flam, ruff...ruff....EDWARD
-Peg (Rick Marotta)...masterful use of the ride cymbal
-Tripping Billies (Carter Beauford)...great latin cowbell vibe into some sweet riffage
-Back in Black (Phil Rudd) ...never have hi hat quarter notes (combined with Angus' palm
mutes) been so beautifully simple and perfect...sets the stage for one of the most
memorable riffs of all time
-Creeping Death (Lars Ulrich)...wow...does this opening ever set the stage for some
metal up your a$$. The cymbal chokes (combined with those amazing chords) KILL
-Come Together (Ringo Starr)...the coolest little texture show courtesy of an underrated groove meister
-Fire (Mitch Mitchell)..."Allrighta...now dig this baby" name a catchier intro...I dare ya :)

I could go on...there are so many...I will let some other Slutz have the floor.

U2 - "Like a Song" from WAR. Laurence Mullen Junior kicks it hard!

Emmylou Harris - "Where will I be" from Wrecking Ball - Brian Blade is the Black Panther/Elvin Jones/Al Jackson Jr.

Hi guys, noob poster here. I'm a drummer by trade and am really interested in all these fantastic parts you've all come up with. For me, these are the daddies too.

Larry Mullen Jr. - Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2. Surely the most instantly recognisable drum intro ever!?

Matt Sorum (I think) - Welcome to the Jungle - GNR. Powerful and driving intro that sets up the whole tune.

Gordon McRory (Mince Fratelli) - Chelsea Dagger - The Fratelli's. Great dance rhythm, dead simple and easy to play but fun!
