Thread Starter | DW Edge snare?
Looking at a new snare and have never really got a chance to dig into one of these. Has anyone had extensive experience with this one. If so what depth was it? What was the overall tone? Ane how does it compare to the solid shell Craviottos? Thanks.

I got a 6x14 EDGE snare, and it sound amazing, it's got a unique caractere, you got the blend of the wood and brass that make it fat, you can tune it hi, and it will still sound big, not thin, and if you tune it low, it's a killer, you should try one, but so far i am more than please with mine, |

Thanks, so you wouldn't say that it ever gets too bright? that was my main concern.

My guess is: coated G1 or G2, with a Hazy 200 on the bottom.

Thanks for the clip. Nice and smooth. Was that played with a stick?, because it has a softer sound like the blaststix. Thanks again, Dave

Oh yeah I'd love to. Where exactly in Montreal do you live? I'm downtown pretty much everyday.

| I have two edge snares. One is a 5x14 and one is a 7x14. I think the 5" is good but if you are worried about it being too bright, I'd def suggest the deeper variety. I play in a rock band and I prefer my 7" much more than my 5". The concept really does work, it gives you a sound that falls between a wood and metal sound.

gigged with it both indoors and a few times outdoors and could not be more pleased. Nice open and dynamic. I just noticed that if I try to tune it too high out of its range it will start to choke a little. But that is true with most drums out there. Thanks for your input. -Dave

this is a very old post so i dot know if any of you guys will get this but... wondering what you guys (owners of the Edge) would say the tuning range of the snare is: ie can it go all the way down to an Fsharp? Sounds like a very interesting drum with the right amount of versitility. J |

If you did want to tune the drum at a lower pitch, I'm sure it would still sound cool, especially with some added muffling. If you don't have a lot of money to buy a variety of snares, then give the edge a shot. It's really a great all around drum that can deliver in a range of applications.
