The Noble & Cooley SS has been on my list for a long time. I will own one someday.

I will look into their 14" x 6.5 aluminum snare. Do you know any good on-line reatilers for N&C?>>

Hi Colin:

I have found most the N&C snares that I have owned through friends or ebay. You can a get a good deal on a used 4.5x14 Aluminum Alloy on ebay for around $300 - $400. The 6.5X14 is harder to find, but I would call Fork's Drum Closet in Nashville. In my travel's I have been there and they have lots of snare drums and you can get a competitive price (I.e., get a good deal and not pay list price). Also they sometimes have used N&C drums as well.

I hope you find that drum because I'm sure it will sound great.

Thanks. I see on the N&C site that the alloy is 14" X 6" and not 6.5", which I would prefer.

I have been watching evilbay for used SS snares but they seem to be going for not much less than new so a new one with a warranty so that might be the way to go. I remember seeing 14" x 7" or 14" x 8" SS snares go for around $500 - $550 but I think those days are over.

I'll check out Fork's Drum Closet.
