| Just played the dominion ash drums today
and thought they sounded really nice. I'm thinking of getting a Yamaha Custom Maple Absolut kit but these have me doubting the extra cash. The YCMA are way more money. I played the Dominion Deep pocket kit today and really dug it. I couldn't believe the price. Going head to head with Yamaha's Custom Maple Absolut and Birch shells (literally back and forth as they were both in the store on the 12x8 toms) I thought the Yamaha's were a bit better in terms of depth and resonance but it was pretty subtle especially considering the ddrums come with really crappy stock heads. I love the sizes of the two floor toms (14x10, 16x12) and that would be a custom job with Yamahas so it would be around 2700.00 new for the same sizes. These were going for 799 with a snare? The snare sounded cool BTW and would be nice to have a deep 13" snare laying around. I seem to remember when Pork Pie's came out they were relatively cheap and now...not so much. I'm wondering if these might be the same although alot of the ddrum colors seem really terrible. They've got some other really ugly drumsets on there website like a punk drumset tailored for girls that looks like something out of Jem. This kit sounded sweet, though. I'm about to sell a 67 Ludwig and a 70's Vistalite kit if you want a reference of where I'm coming from. Hope that helps and let me know if you hear anything. |

i've owned a Pro M for about 4 years, and i cannot think of a better drumset in this price range. no joke. i've played them all, and the pro m blows them all away and can definitely hangout with some classier sets and hold it's own. |

my friend just got a ddrum kit (see my post earlier below - asking if anyone had recorded them)... he also has a very expensive custom kit, and is raving about the ddrum kit... says it is a STEAL for the money (he only paid like $400)
