If piece of software has no known issues, It has not been tested yet.

just goes to show, every program/platform has it's warts - at some point ya gotta pick one and be done.

I've on Sonar since version 6... now on X1 and waiting out the bugs on X2.

When I'm down with a project, I export the unity gain stems, import into a Pro-Tools project and ship it.

done.

As a computer science major, I am actually impressed that the list is so small. Yeah, it's supposed to be perfect but they're human... Come on.

Do you know how much an ilok is? What about buying a set of $500 plug ins and they don't work with your daw. So you come on.

I agree with you both. No software has ever been released without issues, hence patch releases, so yes, they are human, but the ilok 1 omission? That is just poor. ilok 1 works with all other DAWs.

Do you know that they're recognizing this now? It is very important that you know if something is not working and them telling you upfront makes me think that they are working as fast as they can to roll out a patch. As a person who uses AudioDamage plugs all the time, I am a little saddened admittedly. I am sorry if you thought I was "bitching about bitching" but that's not the case. If you rely on said plug-ins, it can be quite an issue. Considering the fact that the iLok 1 is discontinued, I can see how it was overlooked.

If it is a problem, the simple solution is to use Cubase 6.5 (or other DAW if you so please). From my understanding, you can install Cubase 6.5 and Cubase 7 on the same computer too.

You must do what everybody else does. You clone your system and install the new version on it. You check the new stuff and compatibility with your third-party stuff on this system while having the previous version on your main system running great.

Just thinking about what's all going on in apps like Cubase gives me shivers. I don't know how they manage to make it all work.

I can understand that. But ilok2 doesn't cost much. Sure those transfers licenses can be a bit .... hang on!

You don't have to pay to transfer to a virgin iLok on your own account. I transferred all my plugs on three v1s to my v2 in about 45 seconds...

According to the latest info, it is not a must to update to iLok 2. Only if you notice in rare cases problems with certain PlugIns.

The issue with the UR28M is a showstopper for me, I have neither the time nor desire to fart around installing the 32bit temporarily until they issue the fix in the next couple of weeks. So I wont be updating until then - possible even wait for the January patch.

Or carry on using 6.5 and wait and see if they fix the iLok1 issue.

PACE iLok 2nd Generation | Sweetwater.com

Hopefully C7 works with Windows XP

Yall are ridiculous. Switching DAWS for $49?? Some of you are plain nuts and like to cry.

Its odd that people expect backward compatibility FOREVER

iLok 1 has been dead for a good while now

This bad logic seems to permeate this place. Steinberg is not forcing you to do ANYTHING. Its your choice to upgrade or not upgrade your DAW.

Steinberg have chosen to code for the iLok 2 which is current code. I wouldnt waste my resources or time coding for both either.

Reaper seems to be a good choice if its that bad for you guys

I would:
1. Upgrade the iLok first
2. Wait till C7 has a few updates to it then upgrade it
