Red Black covered most of the things I saw. (And yes the videos mentioned that you can not move tracks directly in the mixer).
One thing that I liked was that you can indeed draw directly into the studio EQ plot. Well you double click on it and you get a larger view in which you can draw directly. No need to grab knobs. It also shows realtime spectrum analysis of the signal pre and post EQ.
Also I thought I had seen that you could change the order of things but maybe that was just the EQ as Red Black mentions.

I upgraded my Cubase from 4 to Cubase 6.5 and it's is really very good! The VariAudio function, colors and layout and many tools are a breeze to work with.
I'm posting this, because I was sometimes bashing Cubase for some missing features. So it's time to give back when things are good.

That's one thing that I would add to my studio setup. Currently, I use my Motif XF 7 Workstation/Keyboard as a remote controller for Cubase 6.5, so far a decent option, since I also use the Motif XF for its sounds, and as my main keyboard controller. But... A dedicated Pro-Quality controller for Cubendo that would appeal to the non-post production focused studio would be a big welcome here.
The current Steinberg CMC controllers just don't do it for me.
Cheers,
Muziksculp | The Mackie Controller and Expander work just find for me. I also found like many others that adjusting plug ins are easier to do with a mouse. If you want something a little more high end, the SSL Nucelus would be the next step up.

The SSL is an overkill for me, I currently use my Motif XF7 Remote functions for controlling Cubase 6.5, works pretty good.
Thanks for the suggestion
Meanwhile, I just received this, so I will be checking out all the new goodies

I just downloaded my copy via the company site......
First impressions are everything and I have to say it was mixed.
Problems
1. Rewire with Reason actually seems more taxing on the CPU, even when you raise buffer settings you cannot get as much functionality as you did in 6.5
2. The mixer is like learning to ride a bike all over again, I assume it will be fun EVENTUALLY, but at the outset it's cluttered and annoying. I got so used to not being able to size windows that this is now too many options. I hate it.
3. WHY THE HELL is the CPU meter THIS DAMN LARGE....Seriously, where am I supposed to put it?? Need I buy a 3rd monitor?
4. Colors are dark but that's just a preset.
5. I love the new Delay Compensation on Midi, it doesn't really work as well as I thought it would though because of the issues with rewire being more taxing on the CPU.
6. I don't like the new dropdown menu format. (You know the list when you open a plugin etc.)
Overall, I'm a Cubase guy, have been, will be.
Registration was easy, and I definitely see better performance out of just using Cubase 7 stand alone. I'll have to keep digging to see what else has changed. Overall the mixer is the worst, Logic, ProTools can get it right. Cubases was fine before.

So then they give us this new loudness meter...
IT'S TOO DAMN BIG
...and so I make it smaller so I can see more tracks
...and still
IT'S TOO DAMN BIG
Anyone have any luck with me ASIO delay compensiation for MIDI??
What I'm hearing ISN'T what gets recorded when I have to bounce those MIDI tracks. What gives??
Y, can you move re-arrange things in the mixer, I hate the order oh inserts and sends show up within the view.

they need to re-skin the mixer and all of its shared elements globally (insert strip on left bar in sequencer for example) -- the graphics are not up to par with the rest of the program and create a good amount of dissonance.

So after time has passed how are we about C7? I've still not upgraded or even decided to use Cubase 6.5 much.
Studio One 2.5 is a little glitchy sometimes. I feel like Cubase was a little bit more stable for me.

I record amateur singers quite a lot, so I make heavy use of VariAudio sometimes... Got a Cubase 7 box recently and what an unpleasant surprise -- VariAudio doesn't not work as it should (and as it does in previous versions). In short, when you split a segment in two segments and change the pitch of one of them, the pitch change from first segment to second will be abrupt and this sounds very unpleasant, while in Cubase 5 or 6 there would be some portamento, which sounds just fine. There's a thread about this bug on Steinberg forum, Steinberg eventually admitted the bug and promised to fix it soon. It is still not fixed in 7.0.2 update. As for me, improperly working VariAudio in Cubase 7 made me roll back to Cubase 6.

Studio One 2.5 is a little glitchy sometimes. I feel like Cubase was a little bit more stable for me. | gave it an honest try, mixer is buggy and clunky, slows me down (add to this the lack of keycommand-assignable commands to control the mixer). C6 it is for me.

I genuinely love cubase 7, but there is a distinct gap in audio playback every time I do a punch in. This issue has rendered version 7 useless to me for tracking. Sadly I've retreated back to 6.5 :(

Sent from my GT-N7105T using Tapatalk | I asked about it on the cubase forum, and was told it was a known issue, but I haven't heard too many people complaining about it. So it makes me wonder if it's a bug steinberg will ever fix....
