A big addition I would like to see is to be able to select and change all channels (groups,fx as well) outputs.
Maybe somethibg like the automation window, but to easily select and setup routing.

+1 for single window GUI.
I have Reaper working like that on my 30" monitor. Can't fit Cubase, mainly due to the mixer not being resizeable (except opening and closing fixed size parts).

Cheers!

MIDI timing needs to be fixed.
I've a chance to purchase a competing DAW at reasonable cost through my union so it may not even be an issue for me. I'm just weary of building up momentum as I'm composing a piece only to have a technical issue derail my work to the point where I can't get it back on track. This has happened too many times and I'm getting too old to justify the time I spend troubleshooting Cubase instead of writing music.

"instant-zooming ones" ...and to prevent, that every mouse move in the project windows becomes a p.i.t.a because of auto magnification by every mouse over, a hotkey would be a good idea (hotkey (middle mouse button, for instance) + mouse over).
summarizing i would say: the GUI and handling of Cubase have to be improved significantly before i spent another hundreds+ €. Cubase 6 had some loooong awaited improvemensts but for me it's more a gadget upgrade. Steinberg should get their homework done and put some innovations (Mehrwert) in their product that justifies the price tag (sales tax, Mehrwertsteuer, liebe Steinberger )

Have you asked at the Cubase forum? | I messed around with it again last night. Still having problems. I haven't asked at the Cubase forum, but I've seen a couple of threads created by guys having similar issues. No solutions there tho'.
Would you mind inserting a piece of outboard gear to a mono-in/stereo-out channel for me, and check the panning?

...talking about the plugin initialization at start up.
Cubase shouldn't load ANY plugins at start up but only the plugins used by loading a project. This could easily be done when Cubase writes down a xml-list of used plugins per project and reads this list on starting the project.
It would be really nice if one could arrange the VST3's in custom folders.

. | Excuse my igonorance as I do not use Cubase but why would you need a VST bridge to use Waves plugins in Cubase? Waves plugins come in VST format or am I missing something here?

Those who want a single screen dock away, those who want multi screen undock.

Actually 'Samplitude Pro X' has this feature, which offers a very customizable, and flexible GUI. Overview > Samplitude > Audio Production > MAGIX Pro |

-) when recording stacked audio, i would like to see vertically stacked volume meters (horizontal) in the track panel with a volume slider and an on/off button for each so that i can clearly see what lanes are on...

The ability to draw spline curves in the automation lanes. This feature is the one thing that will determine whether I upgrade to c7 or switch to another daw which has this feature already. Being limited to straight lines is crazy IMO

I wish they would let me organize all of my files from the Finder too (OSX).
I hate their "media bay" browser for finding presets; I feel like I'm looking at an outmoded OS.
