Thread Starter | For Al and Elliot - Natalie Cole
Al and Elliot, I really love Natalie Cole's sound on her records in the 90's and recently (favs - Ask a Woman Who Knows). Can you tell me anything about how her vocals are recorded and/or mixed? (Mic's, pres, comps., processing). Records like those made by Natalie Cole and Diana Krall have such gorgeous vocals. I'm always amazed at how great they sound. The verb's/spatial processing is so good. Any tidbits that you can provided I'd greatly appreciate.

Hi....The tracks that I did with Natalie, she did the vocals live with the band. The tracks I did with her I used either a Tele 251 or a U-67. There was no compression or eq in the chain. It's all about Al's mixing. Els |
