acoustic cloud vs full ceiling?

Gonna start treating my recording room and read in Mr Winer's article that covering the entire ceiling with 703 is good. But have also read alot on the forum about acoustic clouds. What is the best solution? Are clouds just for control rooms?

it is going to depend on room size and what the room is for.. If this is a drum room and the ceiling is less then 10 feet high then I would treat the whole ceiling and keep the floor alive.

As Glenn said it depends on a lot of things. If you care to describe your situation in more detail I'll be able to comment more knowledgeably. Generally speaking, in smaller rooms with low ceilings you won't go wrong covering the entire ceiling.

Hey Caliban - Welcome to the forum. You might also find more info here on acoustics: http://forum.studiotips.com/viewforum.php?f=1

On a side note, I'm kinda in the same boat with my ceiling. Maybe the answers can help both of us. I have a vaulted ceiling (11ft) and have modal problems at 80Hz, 160Hz, etc.

I started a thread over at studio tips: http://forum.studiotips.com/viewtopic.php?t=2690

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. I gonna use it for all my recordings, sometimes an instrument at the time, and sometimes live with panels for separation.Mostly rock bands with loud drums. I think I got the bass traps and all kind of figured out, but is wondering abouth the ceiling. The room is about 21 square meters (dont know much about feet here in Norway) and its 2,80 meters to the ceiling. BTW Mr Winers article was very helpful!

Yeah, I'd probably just cover the whole thing. Especially if the floor is reflective.
