alrighty, i recently built a bunch of traps for my bands rehearsal / recording space and they are working wonderfully! i remember from my recent research on the topic here that there are a number of GS from all over europe finding it difficult to get ahold of suitable insulation materials to use in such traps. what i got from my local distributor here in Dublin, Ireland was Knauf Rocksilk i had asked for Rockwool but this is what they had. i got 50mm thick slabs of RS100 which i have used to make several 50mm (2") and 100mm (4") traps. the stuff is dense, rigid and works great. it is however ITCHY! wear gloves and long sleeves, boiler suits if you have them! Knauf is available in the UK and afaik Germany too, or at least it should be since the company is originally german! so, there ye go, get on it you GS! regards, richie.

Yup, that thing works fine and you can find it also at Travis Perkins and Custom Audio Designs. Dunno if it's worth going for any denser than RS60, though.

I got through 10 packs of RS45 and 8 packs of RS60 during the build of my studio (Insulation and acoustic treatment). Cheapest place to get it is Encon. ******//www.encon.co.uk/ |

I have finally found absorption material over here in Germany that works well, too. It's a fairly rigid melamine foam called Basotect, made by BASF, and is very effective and pretty affordable. Cheers, Recky |
