Thumbs up MIO Culture recycled acoustic diffusors

This seemed cool :

******//www.mioculture.com/store/pc/v...=2&idproduct=9

The whole philosophy and approach of ecologically sustainable products just rocks
and this guy apparently has made this diffusor wallpaper.

I 've ordered some and i'll let you know my subjective review of it when i get my order. The site does not list any testing specs as to what this really "does" but
I'am interested to see if it does improve acoustics , at any rate give it a try
its really a good cause to support someone like this.

well my order is backlogged.

the guy who runs the company is very cool but the production has lagged

on these diffusors but, i'am still getting some and its coming!

it would be cool if ethan from realtraps or one of the guys from gik

acoustics might comment on whether these can actually function as diffusors.

or more to the point will they have enough denisity/mass to reflect enough frequencys?

There was talk about these on another forum and from what I could gather about those they will NOT do much (or anything) at all. You may want to either look for something that is proven and tested or build something youself.

I would say they wouldnt do anything just by looking at them.

they are paper and they apear less thing an 1/8 or 1/16 in thick.
no use at that density.

Unfortunately, in order to offer useful diffusion to a low enough frequency it would have to be at least several inches thick.

Well, who knows, maybe you can stuff 'em with some paper out of your shredder.

And speaking of, what's the fire rating?

If you click on 'related products' they have some cool looking 3D wallpaper.

Having a cool looking studio is important to some of us as well as sounding good.

talked to Jamie at MIO:

"Hello!

I will gladly arrange for an order cancellation. I see the concerns
and
did think about the mass issue quite a bit. The other available
technologies
to make our product provide the mass but really make installation near
impossible and aesthetically speaking kill the whole thing. As far as
fire
rating we do offer a commercial tile (ASTM E84 Class A rated) I
consulted
with a friend who is more knowledgeable in the acoustics field (not my
area
of expertise) but you can count on us providing specs once we have the
item
in inventory and will gladly share that with you all.

Best regards,
Jaime"

So that seems cool !

defintley might still get these after all

vibe is huge , look is wholisticlly part of good recording/performance

so his stuff is the alternative to an ikea world, as well as being beautiful.

I look forward to his specs.

i'll mention to him that looks aren't everything though and maybe

he will also pursue recycled diffusors that are very effective if less pretty?

I encourage others to entice him as well if your interested as well.
