Absorber + slats help!

ok ok, I read lots of post and threads but I have more dubts about this topic...

Stright forward:

Fiber Glass with no gap. Plus some slats covering it

50% open area produce almost no absorption in 8k+

that means I would have flutter echo between 2 parallel walls with this treatment?

sounds logic in numbers, but i would not expect that behaviour in real life...

I thought slats would shelf the highs but not cut off!

im confused

So much to correct.

The 50% open area means that above the frquency where the wavelength equals or is shorter than width of the slats the absorption will be 0.5, assuming the absorbent material is 1.0 at those frequencies.

Slats will diffuse sound at the sides of slats providing, well, diffusion which negates any echo that might occurr with solid surfaces.

Not just 50%,
Andre

let me see if i get it.

25mm slats 25mm slots will produce a 50% absorption at frq above 13khz
and
25mm slats 17mm slots will produce a 40% absorption at frq above 13k

hard skull here...
