Acustic treatment advise (Pic added)

Hi everybody,

I have a small room where I make homerecordings, but because it's quite small, I would need to make acoustic treatment in a closet inside it. I'd use it as a big mic sceen to record mainly acoustic guitars just sitting in front of it. I don't need nothing pro, just improve what I want that in fact, it's bad.

The closet is made of wood and i removed it's doors. It' dimensions are 1,23 x 1 x 0,55 m.

I thought covering walls with acoustic foam and put 2 bass traps up in the corners and a carpet in the floor.

Any advice will be welcome.

Thank you very much, your answers will be very appreciated.

No matter what you put in that closet, I don't think you'll ever be able to get a clean recording in there. Honestly.

If I had to use that space myself, I'd probably cover the entire walls with mineral wool. Probably wouldn't even do slats. Just record very dry.

How would you go about measuring the acoustics in a closet with no door? Obviously mode calculators for the size to estimate problem frequencies..but?

I got your PM. I agree with kasmira that a room that small needs to be mostly dead. Acoustic foam is okay if it's thick enough. Or just use 4-inch thick rigid insulation on the walls and also straddling the corners for bass trapping.

You mean the walls of the closet, right?

Thanks for the answer.

Thanks for your answers. I have just finished treating the closet. I finally covered the walls and celing with 8 cm thick pyramid foam and 2 bass traps up in the corners. I also left a blank space at the center where I set a gooseneck holder for tablet/mobile in order to control DAW with touchdaw TouchDAW - DAW controller and MIDI utilities for Android while I record myself. Finally set 3 battery lamps. It was the best i could do with my budget.

Here's a picture of the result, hope you like it:

Looks surprisingly comfortable in there for how small it is. I wouldn't mind having a go in the closet. How do your recordings sound now compared to before?

I didn't have time to go into it in depth, but made a few tests and sound it's more controlled and there's less reflections for sure. Thanks for your interest.

Looks like it could have been designed by Giger.
