superchunk / perforated panel in one? I have already put floor to ceiling triangular (600mm) velocity bass traps (rockwool) in the corners of my room I was wondering. Theoretically, if I seal them on the sides and back and add a perforated panel on the front could it increase their efficiency ? |
Tests If they are in corners surely the backs are sealed already? While some commercial designs appear to have some sort of membrane in front, a GS tested all sorts of cardboard and other fronts for us here. No measured result. DD |
Just remember that adding a perf panel may (and I stress may) increase efficiency over a certain bandwidth (usually about an octave or two), it will also reduce the bandwidth of overall effectiveness. The apt analogy is increasing the Q on an EQ.... make sure you know which frequencies you want to target, then make sure you build the perf panel so that it really does target those frequencies. If it were me I wouldn't bother..... |
